All six daily soups are GF, but the sides of bread and croutons are not, which wasn't a big deal for my husband as he was more interested in the soup. That said, the croutons were elite, so definitely try them if you can. We visited in March and the food, vibe and service were all impeccable from start to finish. My husband was thrilled to find that almost everything on the menu was gluten free, such a rare and welcome win when eating out. The vegetarian options were right up my street too, especially the mushroom hashbrowns, which were an absolute standout. Honestly, I wish we'd ordered more than two, we'll definitely be going back to make up for it! They've also recently opened up a cantina next door, which I'm already looking forward to trying. Inside the shop is also Matcha Tomo who run matcha making classes, tasting and take home matcha. I got to watch a class in action whilst visiting and it looked like such a fun, immersive experience. The knowledge and passion behind the list is evident and it's the kind of place you leave feeling like you've genuinely learned something about wine alongside enjoying a wonderful day or evening. My favourite time to visit is after dark - the atmosphere transforms into something wonderfully dim, cosy and intimate, making it an ideal date night spot or the perfect place to settle in for a long, unhurried evening over a great bottle. On a sunny day, the outdoor seating area is absolutely gorgeous, the sort of spot where you sit down, feel the warmth and suddenly have no desire to leave. The staff were genuinely beautiful in the way they looked after us. The resort runs complimentary shuttle transfers into Ubud centre multiple times daily, which made exploring incredibly easy and stress free. For those who like to keep active between indulging, there's a small but well equipped gym on site which we made very good use of, if only to balance out all the incredible food and drinks we were working our way through. The spa is also worth a visit, we both treated ourselves to traditional Balinese massages and left feeling completely restored. During our five days in Ubud, we made it our mission to eat, sip and explore as much as possible. We discovered Syrco Base after seeing it win Gold in the PRESTIGE Gourmet Awards 2026. Behind this exceptional fine dining experience is a husband and wife power duo who bring both heart and precision to everything they do. Charlotte commands front of house with effortless grace, ensuring every guest feels genuinely looked after, while Syrco works his magic in the kitchen, crafting dishes that are as beautiful as they are memorable. What truly elevated our admiration, was learning about the ethos behind the restaurant. Seniman is a really cool, laid-back spot with a great vibe, the kind of place you walk into and instantly want to stay for a while. We loved the coffee tasting paddles you could get as it’s a fun way to work your way through different roasts and brewing styles side by side. The setting alone is stunning and what makes the evening so unique is that you actually move through different areas of the venue as the night and dishes progress, dining both indoors and out under the jungle canopy, which was my favourite. It feels theatrical in the best possible way. Honey & Smoke has this wonderfully dimly lit, intimate atmosphere that makes it the perfect spot for a date night or a special occasion. This wood fire restaurant served up some really delicious food and the cocktails were absolutely amazing, I could have kept ordering them all night. We will always show up and Zest did not disappoint. We ventured down into Ubud one morning for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by this gorgeous little zen cafe tucked away from the bustle. The vibe is calm and wholesome, perfectly matching the incredibly healthy, thoughtful menu. My husband went for the seaweed waffles and was absolutely blown away. The space is impressive and large with a mix of indoor and outdoor areas, ranging from relaxed casual spots to more focused corners where locals and travellers alike set up with their laptops for the day. The coffee was great and the baked goods were exactly what we came for. The real showstopper is the more formal dining area which looks out directly over a rice field, a view that's hard to beat with a coffee in hand. The only downside? It's a little far from Ubud city centre, which meant we couldn't justify heading back for their sunset happy hour cocktails as easily as we would have liked. The food was genuinely good and comfortably the best option in town for anyone with dietary requirements, which in itself makes it a standout. The one thing that did let the experience down, unfortunately, was the service and I don't say that lightly, as it's not something I enjoy commenting on. But in the spirit of an honest review, it's worth noting. The food was where it fell a little short of expectations for us, though to his credit the manager went out of his way to apologise and treated us to a complimentary drink, a genuinely nice gesture despite the hiccup. Winners of the WAGFG Regional Restaurant of the Year 2025, the acclaim is well deserved. Yes, it's on the pricier side, but this is one of those experiences where you understand every cent spent. The food was beautifully thought out and the service was impeccable from start to finish. The grounds are beautiful and the stunning main building looks directly out over the vineyards, setting a scene that's hard to beat. Beyond the wines, the food was absolutely unbelievable - the kind of long, leisurely lunch you lose track of time over. Needless to say, we didn't leave empty handed, with a couple of very well chosen bottles making their way home with us. The freshly made pasta is a must and extra brownie points for offering freshly made gluten free pasta too, which is always a winner in my husband’s eyes. Merchant & Maker in the middle of town will satisfy your caffeine needs. As well as good coffee, they also serve up really good breakfast and lunch options - homemade breads, baked treats (both sweet and savoury), sandwiches and tasty lunch dishes. It's perfect for slowing down and sitting in their lovely café, or grabbing a takeaway to enjoy at the beach or back at your accommodation. They have their own onsite fruit and vegetable garden, which they pick from daily. The knowledge and service we experienced from the staff during our visit was amazing. Before or after your meal, take a wander around the grounds to visit the cows, chickens, llamas and goats - it's a very family friendly spot. In summer, they also offer picnic hampers to enjoy on their lawn, which I'm definitely hoping to try soon. It leaves you with stunning ocean views while you enjoy their food and beverage options in the gorgeous sun all year round. The grounds are gorgeous with great views, and there's a large outdoor area for the kids to run around, a real all rounder.
