Albany
We spent two nights in Albany, though in all honesty, one night probably would have been enough for us. We wished we'd given that extra night to Denmark instead, where we only had one night and could have easily done with more.
That said, Albany genuinely surprised us. It's a town steeped in history with a distinctly British character, so much so that it even has a historical Glasgow house, which naturally required a selfie. There's more going on here than you might expect from a regional town and it carries a charm that makes it well worth including as a stop on any South West road trip.
It also gets incredibly busy during whale watching season, so if that's on your bucket list, Albany is absolutely the place to be.

Bred Co
Great coffee, beautiful pastries and sandwiches that are well worth stopping in for. But the biggest gold star goes to Bread Co for baking their own gluten free bread, a small detail that makes a huge difference and had my husband absolutely delighted. The kind of place that clearly takes pride in what they do and caters for everyone in the process.

The coffee was really good, exactly what you want after a morning of exploring and the food menu looked seriously impressive, the kind that makes you wish you hadn’t just eaten. Unfortunately we only stopped in for a coffee on this occasion, but the plates coming out of the kitchen had us with serious food envy.

Sotao
One of those happy accidents that turns into the highlight of your stay. We stumbled across Satao earlier in the day and knew instantly we had to come back for dinner that night, thankfully they were able to squeeze us in and we are so glad they did. The food was absolutely incredible from start to finish, every single dish delivering on flavour and leaving us wondering how we nearly missed it entirely. A lovely touch that didn't go unnoticed was their bread, sourced straight from Bread Co. It was great to see two brilliant local businesses supporting one another in that way. The kind of restaurant that elevates a town and makes you want to tell everyone about it.
