Cocktail Bars
Who doesn't love a good cocktail? Whether it's getting dressed up for a few on date night or soaking up a sunny arvo with the girls, there's always an excuse to order one and enjoy. We've had the pleasure of checking out some fantastic bars and pubs, each serving up timeless classics, inventive originals, or a clever twist on an old favourite. Here's where we'd recommend heading for your next cocktail fix.
Bar Love, Northbridge
If amazing cocktails and 80s retro vibes are your thing, Bar Love is the place for you. I absolutely love this little spot, it's such a warm, welcoming and fun bar, perfect for any occasion. It's no surprise they scooped up WAGFG Bar of the Year 2025 last year. They've also just launched a 'Book Doof', which I'm definitely going to have to go check out as it sounds right up my street!
Si Paradiso, Highgate
When the weather's good, which is pretty much always here in Perth, the Si Paradiso courtyard is a fantastic spot for drinks. It's a great place to head to with friends, especially since they often put on events and DJ sets. My favourite time to visit is summer and their Sunday sessions are seriously good if you have the Monday off!
Gimlet, Fremantle
Tucked away from the bustle of Fremantle's high street and part of the Warders Hotel, this small, cosy bar is Gimlet - specialising in all things gin. Gin happens to be my go to spirit, when I’m not drinking wine, so when a friend recommended this place when we first arrived in Perth, we visited straight away and have been back many times since.
Terrarium, City
A consecutive award-winning cocktail bar of the year, Terrarium, is the perfect spot for date night. With its rooftop location, dim lighting and a long list of cocktails to work your way through, it ticks every box. The staff are brilliant at suggesting cocktails to suit your taste and presentation is always key.
La Cabana, South Fremantle
Tequila is front and centre here at La Cabana, it is a Mexican restaurant after all. So if you love a good marg, you have to try this place out, alongside their amazing food. For non-tequila lovers like myself, much to my husband's disarray, they had a gorgeous gin cocktail on the menu, much to my delight.
Lums, Subiaco
So Lums is technically a wine bar, but honestly the cocktails are just as good. It suits pretty much any vibe you're after - romantic date night, catching up with friends, arvo drinks or a late one. By day it's a total sun trap sitting out street side, then it flips to dim, moody lighting once night hits. We do love this spot.
Gibney, Cottesloe
You don't have to commit to the full Gibney dining experience to enjoy this place, swing by the bar section for drinks and a few nibbles instead. Whether you grab a cocktail inside or out, the location is stunning either way. Gibney will always be one of my favourite spots to watch a summer sunset. Simply stunning.
Madalena’s, South Fremantle
Madalena's is one of those places that works whatever time of day you rock up - great for drinks, great for food. They've just picked up three stars from WAGFG for 2026, on top of a multiple other awards over the years. Honestly, walking in feels like being transported to the Mediterranean rather than Australia. And the upstairs bar? Perfect little spot for a drink with a gorgeous view.
Foxtrot Unicorn, City
This little hidden underground bar in the City has picked up multiple awards over the years and it's easy to see why. The team whips up some really unique cocktails, but they'll happily make you a classic too if that's more your taste. While you're sipping away, the smell of their jaffles (fancy toasties) drifts over and it's torture in the best way. If I hadn't just eaten, I'd have ordered one on the spot, next time for sure.
